Margaret Martire, 96, Longtime Fairfield Resident FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Longtime Fairfield resident Margaret M. Martire, died Wednesday, Feb. 3. She was 96. Martire graduated from the New York Fashion Institute in 1935 and began her long career as a talented seamstress. She was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union of New York. She loved to crochet and delighted in creating blankets and scarves for her family, and she also used her sewing skills to make clothing for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
