SUV Driver Hospitalized After Shattering Utility Pole In Ridgewood
A driver was hospitalized after her SUV slammed head-on into a utility pole in Ridgewood over the July 4th weekend. The Honda CRV rammed the pole in front of a Berkshire Road home near Grove Park on Sunday afternoon. The Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the driver to The Valley Hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. Business at a popular Bergen County restaurant was disrupted when a tractor-trailer driver making a U-turn ripped down utility lines. No injuries were reported in the 11:45 a.m. crash outside Nellie's Place in Waldwick on Wednesday. Owner Chris Roche, who was forced to close the popular Franklin Turnpike eatery during the noontime rush, said he expected to reopen on Thursday. Truck Downs Wires, Closes Busy Thoroughfare In Ridgewood
A truck snapped a utility pole in half, downing wires and temporarily blocking access to a Ridgewood school on Monday. The crash occurred on East Glen Avenue near Quackenbush Place just off northbound Route 17 shortly after 9:30 a.m. The driver wasn't injured. An apparently accidental weekend fire that claimed the life of a Bergen County teenager has staggered many in the community where she was raised, as well as others from area towns and beyond. Riley Boyle, 17, was in the shower when the fire broke out close to the rear entrance of the 2½-story Bonnie Way home around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, responders said. A crash with a Porsche sent an SUV into a utility pole at a busy Lodi intersection. Both the Nissan Rogue and the Cabriolet convertible were severely damaged in the crash outside the BP station at Essex Street and Riverview Avenue just off westbound Route 80 around midnight Saturday. An SUV clipped a utility pole and landed on its side in Washington Township, sending the driver to the hospital.
