Troopers were notified around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, about a missing hiker on the Crane Pond Trail in the Essex County town of Schroon, located within the Adirondacks, New York State Police said on Thursday, Feb. 26.
According to police, Theodore S. Troth, 51, of The Villages, Florida, had been staying at Rowe’s Adirondack Cabins on Route 9 in Schroon since late January.

A hiker was seriously injured after falling along the Billy Goat Trail A near Great Falls on Monday, Oct. 13, prompting a major rescue operation involving multiple agencies, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).
Crews were called around 1:00 p.m. to the C&O Canal National Historical Park after reports of an injured person on the rocky “Traverse” section of the trail, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

A New Jersey man was found dead on a popular hiking trail in New York’s Catskill Mountains.
Linhu Jin, 54, was found unresponsive by a group of hikers on Greene County’s Devils Path Trail in the Town of Lexington at around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, April 24, according to New York State Police.
Jin, of Palisades Park, New Jersey, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A cause of death was not given but troopers confirmed that no foul play is suspected.

A hiker stumbled upon a human skull in a wooded area of Rock Creek Regional Park on Saturday, March 1, and immediately called 911, Montgomery County Police said.
