Murder Suspect Captured Nine Days After Albany Man Found Dead In Alley: Police
The suspected gunman in an Albany shooting that killed a 26-year-old man was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, police said.
Khaliq M. Ibrahim, 23, of Albany, was charged with second-degree murder for the killing of Arell K. Agapito, the Albany Police Department said.
Ibrahim was captured Monday morning in the area of South Allen Street and Cliff Street, police said.
Agapito, 26, of Albany, was found dead Saturday, Sept. 26 around 9 p.m., according to authorities. Cops were responding to a report of shots fired on Elberon Place near Quail Street, police said.

Javier Antonio Lopez, 45, of Floral Park, was behaving erratically inside the fast food restaurant on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont around 6:30 a.m. Monday, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Lopez got into a physical altercation with an 18-year-old man, then a 59-year-old man intervened, cops said.

A Capital Region man broke a young kid’s arm and is now facing an assault charge, authorities said Monday, Oct. 5.
Anthony M. Lucarelli, 21, of Halfmoon, was charged Saturday, Oct. 3 with second-degree assault for the attack on the child, who was under 7 years old, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said.
An EMS call from a Halfmoon address on Sunday, Sept. 27 started the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. First responders arrived at the home around 12 p.m. and transported the child victim to Albany Medical Center for treatment and evaluation, authorities said.

A Capital Region man was found in possession of child porn and an illegal gun following a search Thursday, Oct. 1, police said.
Scott Hammond, 38, of Nassau, was not allowed to own the weapon because he has a previous felony conviction, New York State Police said Monday, Oct. 5.
Troopers began investigating Hammond for child porn back in 2024, eventually leading to a search of his home on Thursday, authorities said. During that search, investigators also found a loaded long gun, according to state police.

A Capital Region man was killed in an ATV crash in the Adirondack Park over the weekend, police announced Monday, Oct. 5.
William L. French, 55, of South Glens Falls, was riding on the Deer Valley Club trails through Indian Lake in Hamilton County on Saturday, Oct. 3, New York State Police said.
French was on a 2021 Suzuki ATV when he struck a culvert pipe around 4:30 p.m., causing him to fly off the vehicle, authorities said.

A Long Island woman who stabbed her ex-boyfriend to death after tracking him from an LIRR station has pleaded guilty, authorities said.
Nikeya Barker, 46, of Bay Shore, pleaded guilty Monday, Oct. 5 to first-degree manslaughter in the death of Shurvell Rush, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
