A Queens man is facing charges after allegedly approaching multiple children outside a Long Island mosque and offering them candy, Nassau County Police announced on Thursday, Aug. 7.
The incident occurred at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, outside the Hillside Islamic Center, located at 300 Hillside Avenue in North New Hyde Park, according to Third Squad Detectives.

A 26-year-old New York man is accused of punching a public works employee after allegedly trying to run him down in an active construction zone.
Michael Sutliff, of Hadley, was arrested Tuesday, July 29, following a violent confrontation in a Lake Luzerne work zone, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
Sutlif drove his 2017 Ram pickup recklessly through a road crew site near East River Drive and Rose Avenue, ignoring posted traffic controls, police said. He then swerved toward a DPW worker, appearing to deliberately try to hit him, according to police.

Fort Lee Burglars Caught In The Act, Cops Say
Three people were arrested after police in Fort Lee interrupted a burglary in progress just after midnight on Monday, July 21, authorities said.
The incident happened around 12:46 a.m. near 206 New York Avenue, Fort Lee Deputy Police Chief Edward Young said in a press release.
Gerardine Paolello, 57, of Belleville; Tamir McFadden-Jordan, 33, of East Orange; and Nylah Walker, 24, of Newark were caught entering a parked vehicle in the area, the deputy chief said. Officers detained all three.
