More than 24,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles are being recalled over a defect that could lead to sudden loss of power, federal officials said.
Mercedes-Benz USA issued the recall for 24,092 vehicles, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report submitted on Friday, April 3. The issue affects certain 2018-2020 E-Class and S-Class models with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, including sedans, coupes, wagons, and convertibles.
The drive shaft's universal joint in the affected vehicles may wear down over time, which could increase the risk of a crash.

A 41-year-old Trenton woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday evening in Ewing, March 22, authorities said.
At 10:09 p.m., officers responded to Olden Avenue and Sixth Street after a 21-year-old Egg Harbor Township resident traveling northbound in a Toyota Tacoma on Olden, struck Krystle Tomlin, who was in the northbound curb lane, Ewing police said.
Tomlin, was then struck by another vehicle, an Acura TSX, driven by a 39-year-old Trenton resident, police said. Both drivers remained on scene and are cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Three people were hospitalized in a three-car crash in Manchester Township on Wednesday, Jan. 28, authorities said.
At 1:22 p.m., officers responded to Pinewald Kenswick Road and Valley Stream Drive after a 2021 Ram ProMaster exited a shopping plaza and failed to yield to a 2020 Nissan Rogue which was traveling west, resulting in the crash, Manchester Township police said. As a result of the impact, the Nissan continued west and struck a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, police said.

A Camden man was killed after being ejected from his vehicle during a fiery crash on Interstate 295 early Saturday, Oct. 11, authorities said.
Rasah Harris, 45, was traveling south on I-295 in an unknown make and model vehicle when he lost directional control around 1:12 a.m. near milepost 9.4 in Logan Township, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper II Christopher Postorino.
