Former Longtime White Plains Mayor Alfred Del Vecchio Dies At 95 White Plains' longest-serving mayor, Alfred Del Vecchio, has died. Del Vecchio died early on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Del Vecchio, who served four terms in office from 1976 to 1993, “guided the city through the process of urban renewal, which changed the face of the central business district,” current White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach said. $34.5M Plan To Replace Imax Theater At Maritime Aquarium Still Alive A subcommittee of the Norwalk Common Council has endorsed a settlement agreement under which the state of Connecticut would pay The Maritime Aquarium $34.5 million to replace its popular IMAX Theater. Under the agreement, the state Department of Transportation would pay the aquarium to replace the theater and lost exhibit space due to the upcoming replacement of the Walk Bridge over the Norwalk River, according to news reports. Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas announced the dismissal of a lawsuit by developer Peter Fine of Manhattan-based Blue Rio LLC, who agreed to pay the city $300,000 and issued a public apology to Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas.
