43 Times: Serial ShopRite Shoplifter Busted In Stafford, Police Say A 28-year-old Forked River man was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 9 and charged with shoplifting from a ShopRite in Ocean County 43 times, authorities said. Daquan Nieves stole almost $1800 worth of merchandise from the ShopRite at 297 Route 72 West in Manahawkin over two months, Stafford police said. Nieves was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court date, police said.

Julius Gaines fatally stabbed Rodney Mayes, a 56-year-old East Orange resident at the ShopRite at 206 Springfield Ave. following a verbal dispute, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. Gaines is charged with murder in the first degree, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, authorities said.
