A Philadelphia man who led a string of six violent armed robberies across the city and nearby counties in February 2021 has been sentenced to 32 years in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Lawrence McKay, 37, forced cell phone store employees at gunpoint to hand over cash and merchandise during a three-week crime spree, authorities said. A Westchester jury has found a man guilty of murder for a brutal 2022 beating that left his victim unrecognizable, prosecutors announced.
White Plains resident Jare Diaz, age 27, was convicted of second-degree murder in the fatal attack of 38-year-old Otoniel Guzman-Desdicho on Nov. 26, 2022, Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace said Monday, Feb. 10.
On the night of the attack at around 11:30 p.m., Guzman-Desdicho was walking in White Plains and ran into Diaz, whom he knew, the DA's Office said.

On Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, Shakir Tyler fatally shot Tayeesa Webb, a 35-year-old Edison resident, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Tyler shot her after confronting her outside her residence, Ciccone said.
Tyler was also convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun, Ciccone said. He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in May, Ciccone said.

A 37-year-old West New York man was found guilty of murder in the first degree on Monday, Jan. 27 after beating his mother to death in 2021, authorities said.
On Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at 1:30 p.m., West New York police responded to 439 66th St. and were met by Emmanuel Gonzalez. His mother, Irma Gonzalez, 62, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and manner to be homicide, Suarez said.
