A 21-year-old Brooklyn man was killed in a crash on Route 23 in Sussex County on New Year's Day, authorities said. At 11:58 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 1, troopers responded to Route 23 south in Montague Township, when a Audi SUV driven by Nazar Bilous was negotiating a curve when it ran off the roadway to right, struck a large rock, re-entered the roadway, ran off the roadway to the right again, and struck a large tree stump and a tree, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesperson for the New Jersey State police said. Overturned Dump Truck Snarls Route 23 Traffic In West Milford
An overturned dump truck backed up traffic in both directions on Route 23 in West Milford Township late Friday morning, July 25, authorities said. The crash happened just before 11:48 a.m. near Old Ridge Road, according to the NJDOT site. All northbound lanes remained open, but the right lane and shoulder were closed southbound as of 12:25 p.m. Drivers were urged to expect delays as crews worked to clear the scene. A fuel tank rollover crash has caused heavy delays on a busy stretch of the New York State Thruway. State Police said the crash has all I-87 southbound lanes closed from Exit 21 in Catskill to Ulster County in Saugerties Exit 20 for at least the next six hours. State police said the crash occurred in Ulster County around 3:50 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, near mile marker 105. Fleeing Driver Hits Denville Officer, Arrested At Costco: Police
A 27-year-old Denville man was arrested and charged after he struck a police officer while fleeing on Sunday, Oct. 20, authorities said. While officers were conducting a traffic stop on Indian Road, it was discovered the driver, Liam Harrigan, had an active NCIC Warrant out of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Denville police said. Police ID Pedestrian Killed By Car On Route 23 In West Milford
A 73-year-old man was struck and killed by a car early Tuesday, Sept. 10 in West Milford, authorities said. Mod A. Khader, of Lincoln Park, was trying to cross Route 23 south when he was struck by a vehicle around 6 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes West Milford Police Chief James DeVore said. Khader was taken to Chilton Hospital where he died at 8:40 a.m. The vehicle that struck Khader remained at the scene and the investigation remains ongoing.

A driver was seriously injured in a crash on Route 23, State Police said. The victim was headed south in a Kia SUV that sideswiped a Hyundai sedan coming in the opposite direction, then careened off the road and into a trailer in Wantage around noon Thursday, May 9, NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. The Kia driver was taken to an area hospital, the sergeant said. No other injuries were reported. New Jersey State Police are investigating.
