Mahwah Tree Worker Severely Injured In 40-Foot Fall
A tree worker in Mahwah was airlifted with severe injuries after falling 40 or so feet, authorities said. AirMed One was summoned to Glasgow Terrace -- between Route 202 and West Ramapo Avenue -- around 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. The chopper was called out of concern over area traffic jams created when a car carrier hauling hybrid vehicles caught fire on Route 17. Feds Fine Construction Company $1.2M In Death Of Worker Killed At Boston Demolition Site
Federal regulators blamed a Brockton construction company for the death of a 51-year-old man who died when the Boston Government Center garage collapsed during a demolition project earlier this year. It was his first day on the job. The Department of Labor announced on Tuesday, Sept. 27, that it had fined JDC Demolition Co. $1.2 million for not properly training its employees and ignoring safety concerns during the project. A man was found unresponsive and bleeding from the head at 289 Beaverbrook Road in Lincoln Park around 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, according to initial and unconfirmed reports. A 63-year-old employee was found dead in a kettle cooker at a South Jersey food processing plant early this week authorities said. Millville's Dale R. : Electrician From Hudson County Falls To His Death At Construction Site
An electrician fell 40 feet to his death at a Lodi construction site. The 43-year-old outside contractor from Guttenberg was in cardiac arrest while being transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with a head injury following the 11:40 a.m. mishap Friday, Sept. 9, on Industrial Road. Fellow workers had done their best to tend to him before responders arrived, Lodi Police Sgt. Dominic Miller said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, Miller said. The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification responded to collect evidence and OSHA was notified, he said.
