An afternoon fire left significant damage inside an Orange County home after flames tore through a bedroom and other parts of the structure.
Firefighters were dispatched around midday on Sunday, Dec. 7, to 127 Academy Ave. in Middletown for a reported structure fire, according to the city's fire department.
Upon arrival, crews confirmed heavy smoke and fire conditions and immediately transmitted a second alarm, the department said.

A house fire in Dutchess County drew multiple fire departments from across two states after heavy flames were reported pouring from a two-story residence on Route 22.
The blaze happened on Monday, Nov. 24, when crews were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. to 1050 Old Route 22 in Millerton after reports of a possible structure fire, according to the Millerton Fire Company.

A fire ripped through a Lyndhurst home on Saturday, May 31, forcing residents to flee and sending one firefighter to the hospital with a minor injury, authorities said.
The fire broke out around 1:40 p.m. on the lower 100 block of Copeland Avenue, the Lyndhurst Police Department said.
Flames shot through second floor windows of the home, where all occupants had already evacuated, fire officials said.

Firefighters battled a second-alarm blaze that broke out in the middle of the night inside an Orange County home, displacing one resident, fire officials said.
The fire was reported around 3:35 a.m. on Friday, May 2, at a home on Rockridge Drive in the Timber Ridge neighborhood of Woodbury, according to the Woodbury Fire Department.
