In the summer of 2007, while bouncing around as a freelance writer, I made a call to my journalism friend Martin Wilbur that changed our lives forever. I had an idea, to launch a local paper, by soliciting editorial help from our newspaper pals and acquaintances in and around Westchester, while also securing advertising support from the bagel shops and pizza joints I frequented. In the second week of September, after a frenzied, sleepless, six weeks, The Examiner was born, as I helped distribute about 2,000 of our debut copies around Pleasantville and Mount Kisco.

Richard Liebson, Longtime Journalist In Westchester, Dies At 61
Richard Liebson, a longtime journalist in Westchester, died Sunday, in White Plains at age 61, according to The Journal News/lohud.com, where he worked for decades.
Liebson had cancer for about two years, according to the article.
Liebson was a crime reporter for more than 30 years at The Journal News. The article says he was one of the newspaper's "best-known writers and characters, a beat reporter of the old school."
