A man accused in a fatal hit-and-run crash is among three suspects incarcerated on pending criminal charges in Putnam released under new criminal justice reforms that took effect on Wednesday, Jan. 1, County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. said. Among those released was 40-year-old Javier Lorenzano-Fercano, who was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal automobile accident, a Class D felony. A Newark store owner from Teaneck who was captured after fleeing the country was sentenced Thursday to 37 months in federal prison for scamming the government out of more than $750,000 in a food voucher scam. The Connecticut state medical examiner released an official cause of death for a Westchester woman found dead in a red suitcase on the side of a road in Fairfield County in February.
