Firefighter Injured Battling Blaze At Popular Rocky Hill Restaurant
An early-morning fire sent one firefighter to the hospital and caused significant damage to a popular Connecticut seafood restaurant. The blaze at Saybrook Fish House in Rocky Hill was first reported at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, according to firefighters. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke pouring from the back of the building at 2165 Silas Deane Highway. The fire was traced to a utility room, officials said. A Croydon firefighter who dedicated more than six decades to protecting his community has died from injuries sustained in the line of duty, the Third District Volunteer Fire Company announced.
