Two Long Island Gas Station Robberies Could Be Linked, Police Say Suffolk County detectives are working to determine if two robberies that occurred just hours, and miles, apart are related. The first robbery took place around 7:35 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, when a man walked into USA Gas, at 188 N. Wellwood Ave., in Lindenhurst, and demanded money. He left the store with cash, Suffolk County Police said. Roughly four hours later, a man robbed the Exxon, at 570 Sunrise Highway, in West Islip, police said. The man left with cash in the second robbery as well. Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
