'Everything Is Gone': Fire Destroys Union County Couple's Lake Hopatcong Home
Joe and Ivea Madden stood outside the house they were renting in Lake Hopatcong and watched it burn to the ground. The pair lost nearly everything in the North Way Lake blaze Thursday, including one of their cats. More than $10,900 had been raised for the Maddens on a GoFundMe as of Tuesday morning. An electrical fire at a business complex in Westchester is believed to have been started by a lightning strike. The fire began amid a round of severe storms around 7:15 p.m., Monday, July 22, at 777 Old Saw Mill River Road, in Hawthorne, where Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is located, said the Hawthorne Fire Department. : Fire Ravages Vacant Ridgefield House
Responders suspect an electrical problem sparked a fire that blew through the roof of a vacant Ridgefield home before dawn Saturday. Firefighters battled cluttered conditions as well as flames that temporarily forced them to evacuate the Elm Avenue home after the broke out around 4:15 a.m. It took them about two hours to fully extinguish the blaze. Cliffside Park, Fort Lee and Palisades Park firefighters assisted their borough colleagues. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters extinguished a Saddle Brook basement fire before it could spread early Saturday afternoon. An electrical panel apparently sparked and caught fire at the two-story, wood-frame Belli Terrace home around 1 p.m. Firefighters quickly doused flames that had spread to the walls and ceiling. Firefighters managed to save a majority of religious items and artifacts during a fire at the Chabad Jewish Center in Bedford Hills. The fire started around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the center located on Railroad Avenue, said Bedford Hills Fire Chief Jason Nickson. The glow from a transformer explosion Thursday night in Queens could be seen from New Jersey. Electrical Fire Shuts Down Stretch Of Lime Kiln Road
An electrical fire on a utility pole has shut down a portion of Lime Kiln Road.The Ramapo Police Department said they are on the scene of the fire along with the Hillcrest Fire Department at Lime Kiln Road near Route 306. A woman had to leave her home in order to find help after a short circuit sparked an electrical fire and a power outage because she was unable to get cell phone service in northeast New Canaan.
