For the third time in as many months, a groundhog has tested positive for rabies in Frederick County in the same neighborhood, this time after getting in a fight with a dog, health officials are cautioning. Dog Scares Off Bergen County Burglars, Police Say
A pair of would-be burglars were scared off by one Bergen County family's dog on Wednesday morning, Oct. 2, police said. Little Ferry police say the two men cut through the screen windows in the front and back windows of the Summit Place home around 5 a.m. Then, they pried the windows open with a crowbar. The two never gained entry, though, as it's believed the owner's dog deterred them as they fled in an unknown vehicle, police said. Family With Baby Displaced By Gaithersburg House Fire, Officials Say
Seven people and a baby were displaced by an early morning fire that is believed to have broken out in a family's garage in Montgomery County.
