Small Plane Hits Runway Light During Training Flight At Hudson Valley Regional Airport
A small plane struck a runway light at Hudson Valley Regional Airport during a training flight. The incident took place around 8:22 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the airport in Wappingers Falls, said the Capt. John Watterson with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. According to Watterson, a flight instructor and a student pilot were in the small aircraft when the plane struck a short runway light. No one was injured and the plane was not damaged, Watterson said.

The Kearny branch of a company that offers "doors off" helicopter tours of major cities, including New York, may fail to meet some safety requirements, according to an FAA inspection cited by The New York Post. Study To Explore Name Change For Bradley Airport Takes Flight
Connecticut’s largest airport may soon go by a new name. This week, the Connecticut Airport Authority board of directors voted unanimously to launch a study about how a potential name change at Bradley International Airport could help bolster flights coming in and out of the Nutmeg State. UPDATE: In a random coincidence, a teacher featured in a PBS special about aviation this past week was involved in an emergency landing at the Paramus Golf Course early Sunday afternoon. Three minor injuries were reported after the 1984 fixed-wing, single-engine Mooney M20K made an emergency landing around 12:30 p.m. on the fairway of the 9th hole off Paramus Road. Footage of a child throwing an 8-hour tantrum on a Lufthansa flight from Germany to Newark is going viral. Shane Townley of New York City posted the video to YouTube in August 2017 -- which has amounted more than 2.1 million views. 10th US Victim ID'd In Crash That Killed Five Members Of Westchester Family
The 10th American fatality in a crash that claimed the lives of 12, including all five members of a Westchester family on Sunday afternoon in northwestern Costa Rica has been identified. The final U.S. citizen killed was Amanda Geissler, a trip leader of the Backroads Active Travel Company, said company spokeswoman Liz Einbinder.
